Lower Bids Enabled?     Wed 19th Dec 2007 21:10:21

In the online help section I see the following text"

"How to enable / disable lower price offers?"

"Go to “My Delcampe > My Parameters” and check the appropriate box for “Accept lower price offers…”"

When I go to parameters I see the following:

Email:
Starting auction...       YesNo
Closing the sale...       YesNo
Auction restart...       YesNo
Newsletter...       YesNo
Answer on the forum...       YesNo
Items moved by moderators...       YesNo
Lower Bids...       YesNo

If I check Yes where it says Lower Bids does that enable the ability to accept lower bids OR is this simple an email preference and I must actually enable lower bids elsewhere?

Hi Omnipleasant,

You're right, the fact to select this will simply avoid you to recieve the message from Delcampe informing you that there was a lower bid preposed on your item.

The best thing to do, if you don't wan't to accept lower bids, is to indicate it in your therms & conditions so that any potential buyers will be aware that you won't recieve his lower bid offer and so won't be able to answer it.

The lower bids are enabled for all accounts at the start, so if you wan't to enable them, don't change anything.

Steven,
I agree totally with your suggestion. There are some great bargains on this site, and I Love the idea of being able to make an offer if an item is relisted over and over again without having received any bids. There are some items listed here that just naturally do better on the "other" site ( for me, anyway), and its a great way to replenish stock. Here is MY greviance:

I recently made offers on large number of items listed by one particular seller, as i Often do with other sellers. Then...I get an email telling me that he NEVER accepts offers. HOURS wasted researching his listings and making offers! The seller SHOULD be able to disable that feature, OR, should be advised to make clear in his listings that "I do NOT accept offers". Or, how about including a "make an offer" feature, that sellers could add to their listings, IF they wanted to? I DO list some items here, but have Never sold any., but will continue to be a good buyer!
