Hi,
I found this little lot in a Br Comm. auction box. I have no French catalogue only Gibbons SOTW which shows them as issued 1902. These however have the centres inverted. They are mint. I wonder if someone could give me the catalogue numbers and values of each . If possible SG but if not a good French catalogue. Thanking you in anticipation Hugh

bonjour CS,

your stamps are identified in the 2008 dallay africa catalog:

cote des somalis #44 a 25c bleu centre renverse' 100 (**) 50 (*)

#45a 30c carmin et noir centre renverse' 80 (**) 40 (*)

#64 1fr rouge-orange et noir not listed

#65c 2fr vert et noir centre renverse' 200 (used)

#66c rouge-orange et noir centre renverse' 300 (used)

from what i read, these two separate issues, one with centers in color and one in black, had a 'clandestined printing with many varieties to include imperfs and inverted centers. it may be the reason some are not listed and in certain condition as mint or used. and as i see the dallay catalog, it too, can be somewhat illogical with its interpretations. if the price of a #65c is given used, then why not on cover as other examples in the catalog. perhaps no examples exist and that is the reason, i am not the expert, so i do not know. i hope one of the french cousins will give an opinion on this lot. i would like to know more of these as i also have some in my collection. and always wish to add more.

un bonne dimanche a vous.

amities,
cajunsr.

Hi there,
thanks for your assistance. I did think of putting the enquiry on the French site but decided against it. I will wait awhile and see if anyone off that site will give me the answer. I am not in a hurry. Thanks again Hugh

bonjour hugh,

you might get a more rapid and accurate answer than mine from the more knowlegable experts on the french philatelic forum. the cousins are not always monitoring the 'anglais' site. but one never knows and they surprise cajun with visits here. things have been too quiet on the philatelic forum lately. it is like a visit to the cemetary. so very sad. :crying2:

cordialement,
cajunsr.

bonjour hugh,

by the by, the dallay catalogs are more specialized than most french ones and are fairly accurate with their information. that is the reason i own them. they have also been bought by maury which also bought the ceres catalogs. they will be combined into one i believe.
