Item description:
|
Finely detailed and postally unused postcard from the 1931 International Colonial Exposition in Paris, France showing a recreation of the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia. Although the original temple is now Buddhist, when it was built in the early 12th century it was dedicated to Vishnu, a Hindu god. It’s considered the epitome of Khmer architecture. This replica, built for the French exposition, lists the architect as Blanche and the sculptor as Auberiat. Published by Braun & Cie of Paris, and a desirable exposition, French or Cambodian collectible in very good condition.
