Item description:
In 1993 over 2,000 school children throughout the Tongan Islands entered a stamp design competition. The six winning entries would become stamps. The artwork item shown in the scan here was one of the six winning entries. The original artwork drawing is shown at the left and details of the child artist are at the right. The stamp was issued and examples of the stamp and proofs are for sale in separate listings on delcampe. For sale here is the original artwork item, which is on thick card and is 28 cm wide and 20 cm high. (size of A4 sheet of paper landscape view) - this is a UNIQUE ARTWORK ITEM which was kept in the printers archives after the stamps were printed.

Not too many countries have released the actual artwork done for issued stamps, so this is a good opportunity for an exhibitor to be able to display an actual piece of original artwork for an issued stamp in their exhibit. This item is of course unique. It is not a copy or a print, it is the one and only original.

Lovely archival type item which hardly, if ever, becomes available to the public, as most items like this are kept by the artist or by the postal administration. Scarce item for exhibit page.
