Résumé :
Il avait suffi que Vincent Midler prenne un train : celui allant de Bruxelles à Paris. Il avait fallu que Mosche Liebermann, diamantaire à Anvers, se trouve dans ce même train, s’asseye dans le même compartiment. Était-il nécessaire qu’ils se parlent ? Toujours est-il que Mosche Liebermann alla baisser les stores donnant sur le couloir, juste avant de sortir de sa poche deux « plis » de papier blanc. Il les posa sur la tablette malcommode séparant leurs deux places. Vincent n’osa d’abord pas, puis il déplia le papier. Étincelant sous le soleil pâle, presque gênant dans leur nudité crue, deux diamants apparurent. Vincent les regarda, les scruta, les inspecta... Il ne pouvait pas encore savoir que sa vie allait changer. Sans même pouvoir s’en douter, il venait de tomber amoureux fou de cette pierre si particulière. Ce train, qui roulait vite, le menait directement Place Vendôme...
