1858-79 PENNY RED PARTIAL PLATE RECONSTRUCTIONS A spectacular collection of used Penny Red Plates in three large albums. An amazing attempt to obtain a full reconstruction of check letters ("AA" through to "TL") for all plates except plate 77. Sadly the grid for plate 225 bears no examples, but ALL OTHER PLATES are represented (some relatively sparsely). Still a long way to go to finish this ambitious project (overall just over 20% complete so far), but on a more positive note the collection contains OVER SEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DIFFERENT STAMPS (different plate number/check letter combinations). Includes decent representations for some scarcer plates such as plate 131 (72 stamps), plate 135 (39), plate 136 (62), plate 139 (74), plate 142 (105), plate 144 (42), etc. etc. Mostly good to fine condition, the stamps already in the collection cat (SG) APPROXIMATELY FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS (£55,000).
