1867 MISPERFORATION, MISGRILLING. 1867 12c black with E grill (SG 92, Scott 90) with spectacular and very unusual diagonal perforation shift affecting the lower half. Unlike a preprinting paper crease this stamp is printed square and the perforations veer to the right, yet are correctly perforated along top & base. A crease along the line of the perf. failure and the double- grill suggestive of a complete paper fold- over after the horizontal perforating, during the vertical perforating & prior to the grill being applied.
