De Slag om Arnhem was een luchtlanding en veldslag tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog die van 17 tot 25 september 1944 in en rond de stad Arnhem plaatsvond, als onderdeel van Operatie Market Garden. Een paar duizend paratroopers landden hier op 17 en 18 september om de enige intacte brug over de Rijn te bezetten tot de grondtroepen deze vanuit België zouden bereiken. Ook materiaal en munitie werden vanuit de lucht aangeleverd. Hevige weerstand van vooral SS-troepen deden de operatie mislukken, waardoor het noorden en het westen van Nederland niet bevrijd konden worden en een dodelijke hongerwinter volgde. Dit boek analyseert de unieke logistieke operatie die met de luchtlanding van de 1st Airborne Division gepaard ging. Het boek bevat veel getuigenissen, foto’s en kaarten en leent zich ook als gids voor de situatie ter plaatse.
