Marie-José Delaey volgde in de jaren dertig een opleiding aan de Academie van Roeselare o.l.v. Gaston Vallaeys en in 1940 behaalde ze het pedagogisch diploma tekenen en kunstgeschiedenis. Van 1940 tot 1970 was ze tekenlerares te Roeselare. Ze stelde tentoon in Brugge en Roeselare.
