Publishing House is devoted to the work of Richard Publishing
Company run by a Petersburg German merchant R. R. Luttermann. The
company is well known to most deltiologists. This catalogue is the
first to feature multi-colored postcards by Russian and foreign
artists, published by Richard Publishing Company, as well as new
archived materials related to the company’s history. This
publication will interest deltiologists, art historians,
historians, bibliologists, designers, artists, antiquarians and
rare book dealers.

The new catalogue is devoted to the publishing company engaged in
printing of open letters under the name Richard. For a long time,
there was no information about the history of this publishing
company or the people who were behind this trademark. The company
did not issue publisher’s catalogues, although many of its
postcards bear serial numbers. All of this presented significant
difficulties during the creation of this catalogue. The owners of
the company published postcards that suited any taste and featured
various themes, such as art (original and reproduction postcards),
theater and landscapes. Among Richard postcards there were also
open letters devoted to the ruling dynasty, the Russian-Japanese
War and the First World War. This catalogue features only
multi-colored picture postcards which were mass-produced by the
publishing company from 1900s onwards. The majority of the cards
featured in the catalogue bear consecutive numbers. Examination of
the collection of open letters published by Richard, available to
Krepostnov Publishing House, and of the new archival materials led
to the discovery of names of the company owners and provided an
opportunity for the publishing activities of the company to be
analyzed.
The catalogue features illustrations of all open letters
published by Richard which are currently known, as well as their
prices. English and Russian languages. 256
