1883 Rear Admiral Baron Grivel died onboard the "Pallas" in Dakar at 24th Jan. 1883: Entire letter dated 'A bord de la "Pallas", Dakar, le 28 Janvier 1883' and addressed to 'Monsieur de la Noë, Directeur des Messageries Maritimes et Madame de la Noë, Montevideo', franked by French 1876 5c. green tied "LIGNE J PAQ. FR. No.6/28 JANV 83", and regarding the death of the Rear Admiral Baron Grivel who commanded the the Naval Department of the South Atlantic with flag onboard the "Pallas".
