1.The Sky Lantern Festival in New Taipei Citys Pingxi is the most famous Lantern Festival celebration in Northern Taiwan. The event was voted in a Discovery Channel poll as the worlds second grandest nighttime celebration. As thousands upon thousands of lanterns ascend into the night sky, the points of light are a wonder to behold. The lanterns are invested with prayers and hopes by those who launch them, and images of them in the night sky serve well to market Taiwan.

2. Pintung County´s Xiao Liuqiu is Taiwan´s only coral island. Vase Rock, formed by uplifted coral that has weathered to be thick on top and thin on the bottom, is the most iconic of the island´s rich tourist resources. Resembling a flower vase in shape, the aptly named rock has become a must-see attraction on the island.
