Les troupes terrestres du Japon s'implantent à Sumatra et Java, la Marine contrôle les autres îles. La conquête a été si rapide que l'on n'a pas songé à imprimer des timbres spécifiques et les vaguemestres font avec les moyens du bord.

The Netherlands occupied by Nazi Germany would be hard-pressed to defend their colonies, especially since the British could not prevent the occupation of Malaysia and the Americans with General MacArthur had to withdraw from the Philippines. Japanese land troops are established in Sumatra and Java, the Navy controls the other islands.
