PLEASE NOTE THAT ON 25 MARCH 2019 ROYAL MAIL INCREASED THEIR POSTAL CHARGES: MY RATES FOR POSTAGE & PACKING - EFFECTIVE 26 MARCH 2019 ARE AS FOLLOWS: UK normal letter 80p, Mainland Europe for up to 20gms for is increased to £1.40, over 21-99gms is £1.65. Above that weight postage will be advised. The Rest of World is up to 10gms is £1.40 - 11-20gms is £1.60 & for 21-99gms is £2.40; above this weight postage will be advised. The biggest change that Royal Mail made in 2014 is to do with the thickness of a letter - if it is over ½cm thick it is considered to be a large letter and the postage & packing at the large letter rates are: UK £1.20, Mainland Europe £2.90, Zone 1 £3.55 & Zone 2 £3.75 . Large items are also regarded as large letters and the thickness does not apply. To overcome this I intend to use thin but stiff card to keep the thickness under ½cm - for large items thickness does not matter.
Compensation: From 30 Apr 2013 'free compensation for loss or damage' was been reduced to £20 per packet. Packets over £20 and under £50 sent to UK addresses costs £1.75 and will be sent recorded, Purchases over £50 & under £100 will be sent in 2 x recorded, signed for packages @ £1.90 for 2nd class. For all non UK addresses amounts of £20.01 to £40 will be split into 2 x packages and sent by normal airmail rate. International tracked & signed for to non UK addresses is very expensive. The difficulty I face is that if an item costs more than £20 I can either send it at the customers risk or by Internal tracked & signed.
International Signed For is VERY expensive and should be used for all purchases in excess of £20. However it is very likely that sending multiple packets with a value of £20 or less in each packet will work out much cheaper that International Signed For. International Signed For for all European addresses (only if in the EU) is for items weighing less than 20gms is £6.10. For all other non UK addresses it is £6.45! If a buyer from mainland Europe purchased £30 worth of goods then it would be significantly cheaper for me to send that buyer 2 x packets @ £1.40 each rather than 1 x Signed For @ £6.10.
I am sorry that this is so complicated but I always provide combined postage for multiple purchases and will send all non Uk mail using the best possible postage price.
Payment to be made by Paypal.
I do not add on extras to cover selling fees (curently 8.5% of selling price per item + 24p per item) so all that is added to the price on the screen is postage & packing.
