1885, ERWERB DES BISMARCK-ARCHPELS: Postkarte von Hongkong 3d QV nach Stolp i. P. Ein Besatzungsmitglied der Kreuzerfregatte Stosch berichtet, dass das Schiff in Hongkong -entgegen der ursprünglichen Planung- Weisung bekam, nach "Guinea" aufzubrechen, "um dort Ruhe und Ordnung herzustellen". Der Hintergrund war, der Beunruhigung der australischen Behörden entgegenzuwirken, die infolge des Erwerbs des Bismarck-Archipels und des Kaiser-Wilhelm-Landes durch das deutsche Kaiserreich entstanden war.
