Set of 4 Maxi Cards of 2007 Qing Dynasty Jewelry Stamps. Formosa(Taiwan), Rep of China.
Scarce.
1. Gold Earrings Decorated with Flowers Inlaid with Pearls, Jadeite and Jewels: During the Qing Dynasty, earrings with jewel pendants were called "pendant earrings." Other earrings were simply referred to as "earrings." Each earring in this pair is decorated with a sunflower made of rubies, green gems and pearls, as well as other flowers and leaves at the bottom of the hoops made of jade and pink tourmaline.
2. Gilt Silver Hairpin Decorated with Flowers Inlaid with Pearls, Jewels and Jadeite: There were two kinds of traditional Chinese hairpins: zan and chai. The exposed ornamental part of these hairpins were called the zanshou, and the long, narrow part that was inserted into the hair was called the ting. A hairpin with only one ting was known as a zan, whereas a hairpin with multiple ting was known as a chai. This zan hairpin is decorated with a flower made of pink tourmaline (petals), pearls (center of the flower), ruby and sapphire (flower buds), jade (leaves) and kingfisher feather inlay (calyx).
3. Tortoiseshell Fingernail Guards with Inlaid Pearls, Jewels and Jadeite and Mallow Blossom Decoration: Tortoiseshell comes from the carapace of the Hawksbill turtle, which is found in tropical and subtropical waters. It is a transparent mottled brown with dark brown spots and streaks after being treated. Because tortoiseshell bends when heated, one can press many small pieces into a large piece that can be turned into all sorts of objects. This pair of tortoiseshell fingernail guards is decorated with pink tourmaline sunflowers, jade leaves and kingfisher feather branches embedded in gilded metal.
4. Gold Ring Inlaid with Pearls and Jewels: This ring has a flower design. A large pearl is at the center of the flower, and pink tourmaline, jade, rubies and sapphires serve as the petals.
