2017 Ancient Chinese Painting “Immortal Blossoms of an Eternal Spring (II) ” Stamps. Formosa(Taiwan), Rep of China.
First day of issued: April 26,2017.

Giuseppe Castiglione was an Italian who came to China in 1715 as a missionary. He leveraged his talents as a painter to gain an appointment to the court. He blended Western and Chinese techniques and was particularly adept at painting flowers and birds. The paintings in the series feature flowers in all seasons and gorgeously colored. The scenes are richly detailed and the compositions are well balanced. These works are true masterpieces of blended Western and Chinese painting.

The 2nd set in the series includes eight stamps:
-Poppies (NT$5),
-White and Purple Lilacs (NT$5),
-Tiger Lilies and Winding Peonies (NT$7),
-Emerald Bamboo and Morning Glories (NT$9),
-Lotuses and Arrowhead (NT$10),
-Pea Blossoms and Millet Stalks(NT$10),
-Cockscomb (NT$12),
and
-Chrysanthemums”(NT$12).
