historia ¿Cuántos tomos llevaría escribirla? ¿Cuántos hechos
importantes o simples anécdotas podrían contarse? ¿Cuántos hombres
han forjado su rica trayectoria? ¿Cuántas mañanas lluviosas o de
sol, ventosas o calmas, han transcurrido? ¿Cuánta gente que
contribuyó antes o contribuye ahora, de una forma u otra a formar
la historia grande del país, ha corrido detrás de una pelota en un
equipo de "La Liga"? En la pureza de su amateurismo sin
mácula, La Liga ha marcado un hito de relieve en la historia
deportiva del país. Sus 99 años de andar, pletóricos en
acontecimientos de destaque, son sólo una continuación de la obra
de aquellos soñadores que en 1914 la fundaron, seguramente sin
siquiera sospechar el preponderante lugar que La Liga ocuparía en
nuestra sociedad durante tantos lustros.La función social cumplida
a lo largo de estos años brindando a jóvenes- y no tanto-
estudiantes una oportunidad de canalizar sus mejores energías en
justas deportivas, es un reconocido mérito que La Liga exhibe
con indisimulado orgullo. La continua forja de hombres de bien con
espíritus templados en la fragua de limpias competencias es una
realidad ya hecha tradición.
