Making a lower offer.

    Hello,
I had an interesting discussion with a seller. I made a lower bid on one of their items and they decided to to start a full-length 7-day auction at my price instead of accepting my price and selling the item to me immediately. That is their choice, I agree, but then the seller told me I should have made a lower OFFER and not a lower BID if I wanted a direct sale at my price. So, my question is: does anyone know if I could make a lower OFFER if the seller has not included the option in the auction? Is there a hidden button on the auction page or something?
    Cheers.

There is only one option to offer a seller a lower price.

The "lower bid" option that you used.

The seller than gets the choice to accept immediately, to run it as an auction starting at the offered price or rejecting it.
