罗伯特·科赫(1843—1910),德国细菌学家,结核杆菌发现者。曾任柏林大学教授,传染病研究所所长,发明用固体培养基的“细菌纯培养法”,首先采用染色法观察细菌的形态,并运用这些方法先后分离出炭疽杆菌、结核菌和霍乱弧菌,同时确证这些细菌与疾病的关系,提出了科赫原则。1905年获诺贝尔奖。

Robert Koch (born Dec. 11, 1843, Clausthal, Hannover [now Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Ger.]—died May 27, 1910, Baden-Baden, Ger.) German physician and one of the founders of bacteriology. He discovered the anthrax disease cycle (1876) and the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (1882) and cholera (1883). For his discoveries in regard to tuberculosis, he received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1905.
